About HACD

The Hawai‘i Association of Conservation Districts was organized in September 1954 to serve as the state instrument and voice for the conservation movement in Hawai‘i. It maintains and promotes relations with organizations and government agencies; publishes information about districts; works with youth, agriculture, urban programs, the environment, industry, and other fields; and provides specilized services to the Districts.

Goals of the Hawai‘i Association of Conservation Districts are to:

  1. Promote the conservation and protection of natural resources within the State of Hawai‘i.
  2. Support responsible use of agriculture, rural, conservation, and urban lands.
  3. Educate the public about soil and water conservation policies and programs.
  4. Encourage active participation and cooperation among public and private organizations in promoting soil and water conservation within the State.
  5. Work with member Districts in developing and promoting legislation needed to facilitate and support the work of the Conservation Districts.
  6. Pursue assistance from all available sources on local, state, and national levels to ensure the greatest conservation benefits to the natural resources and the people of Hawai‘i.
